A Message from Carole

As a mother of six children, I see the value of an excellent education.  As a former teacher, I see that quality instruction promotes student success. As an involved resident, I see how schools enhance a community with positive economic development. In fact, many new residents report their major reason for moving to Gwinnett is our fine school system.

I have had the  honor of representing District 1 on the Gwinnett County Board of Education since 2007.  Although, our population has grown and become more diverse, our students continue to excel.

I am also proud that twice during my tenure on the board of education (2010 and 2014) Gwinnett County Public School has received the prestigious Broad Prize for Urban Education which is given to the top school system in the country and brings significant scholarship money to Gwinnett students.

Our residents can be proud that Gwinnett County Public Schools is the only large school system in the country to hold AAA bond ratings from both Moody's and Standard and Poor's rating agencies. This rating is a huge savings for taxpayers.

Although our schools continue to excel, increasing challenges must be met with fewer funds. The present Board and Superintendent leadership team has demonstrated its ability to face obstacles while focusing on our core business of teaching and learning.

It is my wish to continue the course of our Board of Education as Gwinnett County Public Schools becomes a highly reliable world-class school system ensuring success for all students.  When public education is done right, all elements of society prosper.  Our citizens are productive; our economy thrives; our social problems are minimized; our community prospers; and our lives are enriched.

Why would we want anything less for our children?
